Unicode 14.0, the latest update to the Unicode Consortium’s popular character encoding software, has arrived with a number of new and exciting features. One of the most significant changes is the addition of a new troll emoji, which is designed to represent an angry or frustrated person. The emoji was created by Google in collaboration with Unicode and is available in both English and Japanese. It can be used to represent any type of reaction – from anger to frustration – and can be used in text, online ads, and even in web applications. The troll emoji is a great addition to Unicode 14.0 and will be very useful for those who need to communicate effectively with others.
Unicode 14.0 and the New Emoji
In total, there are 37 new emoji ready for primetime, and there are even more if you count the different skin tones offered by several of them. It’s hard to choose a standout, as there are some really stellar options, but we’re quite fond of the troll and low battery emoji, as they can be used in so many different ways.

Just imagine messing with a friend, getting them all riled up, and then sending them the troll emoji to let them know you’re just messing with them. Will it make them angrier or settle them down? The fun is in finding out.
Of course, the low battery can be used to signify that your phone is literally on the verge of death, but it could also be used to indicate that you’re sleepy. There are so many possibilities.
And then there’s the lip bite emoji. I don’t need to tell you how you can pair that with eggplants and peaches (though I suppose I just did).
The fact is, emoji are just fun. Seeing all of the new ones injects some new life into them. So let’s all have a party under the new disco ball emoji while our faces melt to the beat!
