You probably don’t think of Microsoft and Meta (formerly Facebook) as likely dance partners, but the two companies are coming together to bring Microsoft Teams to Workplace by Meta.

According to The Verge, soon, you’ll be able to use Microsoft Teams to stream video into Workplace groups, which will definitely make Workplace by Meta a more useful tool. If you’re a Workplace user, you’ll be able to view, comment, and react to meetings without having to switch apps.

“One thing I’ve learned … there’s not going to be a one and only communications tool on the planet,” says Jeff Teper, head of Microsoft 365 collaboration. “People are going to choose a number of tools, so I think it’s on us as responsible vendors to make sure they can integrate and interoperate.”

The integration between Workplace by Meta and Microsoft Team is expected to roll out in early 2022.

Additionally, Teams is coming to Facebook Portal, making Meta’s video calling device a lot more functional.

This isn’t the first partnership between Meta and Microsoft, and it probably won’t be the last. You can currently use SharePoint, OneDrive, and Microsoft’s Office 365 tools in Workplace by Meta.

Going the other way, Workplace is integrated into Microsoft’s Azure Active Directory, so adding Teams is just the next logical step in the process.
