Apple Music is one of the most popular music streaming services on the market, and with its new 12.2 update, it looks like things are about to get a lot faster. According to a report from MacRumors, beta testing of Apple Music 12.2 has shown that the app is now much faster when it comes to loading songs and albums. This is thanks to a new caching system that was implemented in order to make sure that songs and albums are always ready for use. This new caching system also helps to reduce the amount of time it takes for Apple Music to start up, which should be a big relief for those who have been struggling with the app being slow or not working at all lately.

The beta was first spotted by Twitter user Luming Yin. Unfortunately, the macOS Monterey 12.2 beta is only being seeded to developers at this time, so you’ll have to jump through some hoops if you want to actually test out the latest version of the Apple Music app on macOS. However, it’s nice to know that Apple is working on the app, as the old version left a bit to be desired after the release of macOS Monterey.

Outside of the Apple Music app, 9to5Mac also found that the Apple TV app in macOS Monterey 12.1 was rebuilt using the new AppKit, so it appears that Apple is making its way through many of its default apps to make them run more smoothly on macOS Monterey.

While Apple didn’t say much about what macOS Monterey 12.2 included, 9to5Mac did some digging and found that it also brings improved scrolling in Safari with ProMotion MacBook Pro devices. So if you have one of the newest MacBook Pro laptops, this is a pleasant update that’ll make browsing the web a smoother experience.
