Apple has been tight-lipped about what it plans to do with its mobile operating system, but that may be changing soon. KDE Connect, a project spearheaded by KDE developers on the iPhone, is finally coming to the platform. KDE Connect is a cross-platform app that allows users to connect with each other and share files and projects. It’s similar in concept to the popular FileZilla app, which is also available on Android and Windows Phone. The app will be available for free on the iPhone starting today.
To take advantage of KDE Connect on iPhone, you’ll need to jump through a couple of hoops. First, you’ll need to go to this TestFlight link to get set up to test the beta of the KDE Connect app. Additionally, you’ll need to be on iOS 15 for the app to run, so you’ll need to make sure your iPhone is updated.

If you’re not sure what KDE Connect does, KDE describes it as “a project that enables all your devices to communicate with each other.” You can get notifications on your desktop and reply to messages, control music on your desktop from your phone, use your phone as a remote control for your desktop, and do plenty of other cool stuff.
