If you’re like most people, you probably have a few questions about how to use a ring doorbell. Here are some tips to get started:

  1. Find the right doorbell. There are many different types of doorbells, so it’s important to find one that will fit your home and your needs. You can find them online or in stores.
  2. Connect the wires. When you buy your ring doorbell, you’ll likely be given a wire diagram to help you connect it to your home’s electrical system. Be sure to connect the wires correctly and make sure there’s no damage done during installation!
  3. Set up your camera and settings. Once you’ve connected the wires and set up your camera, it’s time to set up your settings! You can find instructions on the website or in the store where you bought your ring doorbell.

The feature is similar to creating a voicemail greeting on your phone. When someone presses the doorbell button, your selected message plays—after a set time—and the person can leave a message for you. It’s pretty cool.

To get started, open the Ring app on your iPhone, iPad, or Android device. Tap the gear icon for the device that you want to enable Quick Replies on.

Next, select “Smart Responses.”

You’ll see some information about how the feature works. Tap “Enable Feature” to proceed.

Now, we can adjust a few things. First, select “Response Time” and choose a time length. This is what determines how long to wait after the doorbell is pressed before the Quick Reply message is recited.

Next, select “Quick Reply Message.” This is where you can decide what the message will be.

At the time of writing, there are six messages to choose from. You’ll hear the message recited out loud when you select it. Tap “Save” when you’re done.

If you have a Ring Premium subscription, you’ll see the “Quick Replies” listed in your History. Ring Free users can only hear the responses from the live view.

Some of the Quick Replies are more specific than others, so you can switch between them for certain situations. This might not be something that you want to have enabled all the time, but it’s good to know that your Ring Video Doorbell can do it.
