If you’re like most people, you probably use Gmail as your default email app on your iPhone. And if you’re a Gmail user, there’s a good chance that you also use the app to send and receive email. But what if you want to set Gmail as the default email app on your iPhone without having to uninstall or switch to a different email service? Here’s how:
- Open up Settings and select General. This will open up the Settings screen on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and select Mail and Contacts. This will open up the Mail and Contacts screen on your iPhone.
- Scroll down and select Email Accounts. This will open up the Email Accounts screen on your iPhone.4. Select Gmail from the list of accounts that appear in this screen.5. Click on the blue checkmark next to Gmail in this screen’s list of options, and then click OK to confirm these changes.6. Now, when you type in “Gmail” into any of your favorite web browsers, you’ll see that it’s now the default email app for all of your emails!
First, head over to the App Store and download the latest version of the Gmail app. Once you’re set, tap “Settings” on your iPhone or iPad.
Scroll down to “Gmail” and tap it. You can also type “Gmail” in the search bar at the top, if you prefer.
Tap “Default Mail App.”
Select “Gmail” from the list, and you’re done!
Gmail is now the default email app on your iPhone or iPad. Whenever you tap a “mailto:” link, it will now open Gmail instead of Apple’s “Mail” client. You can also set any other compatible email client (including Outlook) as the default if you decide to switch again later.
While you’re at it, you might also want to replace the default web browser with Google Chrome or Mozilla Firefox.
