If you’re like most people, you probably use the taskbar on your Windows 10 computer to launch programs and access your files. But did you know that you can also see classic window labels on the taskbar? To see classic window labels on the taskbar, open the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc or going to Start > Task Manager. In the Task Manager, click on the “Processes” tab and then select “Windows Explorer.” You’ll now see all of your open windows in a list on the left side of the window. Double-click on any of these windows to open it in its own separate window. (If you have multiple windows open in different tabs or windows, they’ll all open in separate tabs or windows.) To return to using standard window labels, close any of the individual windows by clicking on its “X” in the top right corner. (If a window has multiple tabs or panels, clicking on an individual tab or panel will close it.) Then close the Task Manager by pressing Ctrl+Shift+Esc or going to Start > Task Manager. ..
Remember the good ol’ days when you could see the names of open windows listed directly on the Windows taskbar? Thanks to a setting in Windows 10, we can easily get that feature back. Here’s how.
First, right-click the Taskbar and select “Taskbar settings.” (You can also find this same screen by heading to Settings > Personalization > Taskbar.)
By default, Windows 10 hides open application windows under a single taskbar button that looks like the app’s icon. We’re going to change that.
In Taskbar settings, click the menu labeled “Combine taskbar buttons.”
In the pop-up list that appears, select “Never.”
Instantly, you’ll notice that any open windows listed on your taskbar now show labels as well as the app icon.
If you’re happy with that, close Settings, and you’re all set. It’s like Windows 95 all over again! Well, almost.
If you change your mind, you can always undo it by selecting “Always hide labels” in the “Combine taskbar buttons” menu. Happy computing!
